Love at First Sight: A Diamond that’s all Heart

Many people love the beauty of diamonds, and the fact that they are a part of history that started over 1 billion years ago. Diamonds have become a symbol of timeless commitment, and with the shapes, sizes, and colors there is something for everyone.

What you may not know is how many incredible diamonds have been discovered. One worth knowing about is the “Love at First Sight” diamond. This incredible heart-shaped diamond totals 56.15 carats with a rating of IF Type IIa, color D.

This diamond was originally cut from the Cullinan Diamond. The Cullinan Diamond was found in South Africa in 1905, in a mine owned by Sir Thomas Cullinan. The Cullinan was originally 3,106 carats. The diamond was presented to King Edward in England on his birthday, and later cut into 9 major stones, and 96 smaller stones.

Today, the Love at First Sight diamond is estimated to be worth $9 – 12 million – now THAT’s  a commitment diamond!
